Career management is anything that you do to enhance your professional working life.

If you are stuck or feel in a career rut, coaching can help you to get back on track and equip you to take the decisions you need to support your development. You will develop action plans for change by setting clear goals, working to realistic timescales and identifying key indicators to measure your progress.

Each session is unique! Just as each client is unique!

We start by reviewing where you are: your values, skills and interests and use these to set career objectives. The emphasis of each session is determined by you and is entirely focused on supporting you in meeting your career needs.

You will be expected to complete a questionnaire prior to the start of a session giving a summary of your career background to date. This information will provide the initial focus of the session to help with planning next steps.

If you are thinking of career change then exploratory work on how you can use existing skills and knowledge in a different setting will be discussed. During each session, you will set the agenda for the career conversation and will be responsible for the outcomes. My coaching is framed in the person-centred context which facilitates insight to produce the desired change, for you. As your Coach I respect your expertise in your life and actively practice unconditional positive regard, (Rogers 1957) through reflective techniques. You will be helped to produce a career plan that works for you.

All information disclosed will remain confidential. We strictly adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998 , GDPR 2018 and do not share your information in any way whatsoever.

Conversations usually take place over 3 to 6 sessions. However, this varies with the individual, the coaching package agreed and according to the issues to be explored. You are in control of meeting your career goals and will decide the frequency and duration of the support you need.

We respect the pace at which each person works and our aim is to support you throughout your journey of discovery. If there is a need for additional sessions apart from that initially set out in the contract, this will be discussed with you and a corresponding contract will be agreed. You may reduce or terminate sessions at any time

Psychometric tests are increasingly being used as part of the recruitment and selection process.

The information obtained from a test can be used to:

  • Build productive working relationships
  • Select and develop high performing teams
  • Raise self-awareness and personal effectiveness
  • Build mutual trust and understanding between employees
  • Helps with recruitment and selection processes

The most commonly used tests are:

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

MBTI is one of the most well established and highly respected psychometric tools in the world. It is used to get an indication of how your personality type fits within the workplace. There are 16 personality types, all of equal value, which helps you to understand yourself and others in the workplace, according to preferred styles of working. It also helps to assess your suitability for certain roles or types of jobs.

Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ)

The OPQ is a self-report questionnaire that:

* Reflects how an individual sees her/his preferred style of thinking, feeling, and behaving in the workplace

* Focuses on style not ability

OPQ is used to provide an objective, detailed view of an individual’s predicted behaviour in the work place, how they might fit into a particular work environment, how they work with others and the roles they are most suited to.

BELBIN

This is a tool that helps to measure behaviour and looks at how people interrelate in the work place i.e. the roles they play. It is most frequently used to assess team working effectiveness.

” A team is not a bunch of people with job titles but a congregation of individuals, each of whom has a role which is understood by other members. Members of a team seek out certain roles and they perform most effectively in the ones that are most natural to them.” Dr R M Belbin

NB. Separate charges for these additional services will apply unless agreed as part of your package. We are happy to discuss your particular needs with you.
