Psychometric tests are increasingly being used as part of the recruitment and selection process. The most commonly used tests are:
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
MBTI is one of the most well established and highly respected psychometric tools in the world. It is used to get an indication of how your personality type fits within the workplace. There are 16 personality types, all of equal value, which helps you to understand yourself and others in the workplace, according to preferred styles of working. It also helps to assess your suitability for certain roles or types of jobs.
The OPQ is a self-report questionnaire that:
* Reflects how an individual
sees her/his preferred style of thinking, feeling, and behaving in the workplace
* Focuses on style not ability
OPQ is used to provide an objective, detailed view of an individual's predicted behaviour in the work place, how they might fit into a particular work environment, how they work with others and the roles they are most suited to.
This is a tool that helps to measure behaviour and looks at how people interrelate in the work place i.e. the roles they play. It is most frequently used to assess team working effectiveness.
" A team is not a bunch of people with job titles but a congregation of individuals, each of whom has a role which is understood by other members. Members of a team seek out certain roles and they perform most effectively in the ones that are most natural to them."
